The Cabinet (Executive)

The Executive branch is the part of government that has sole authority and responsibility for the daily administration of the state. The executive branch executes the law.
The executive branch is made up of the Cabinet which shall consists of the President, the Vice President and such number of Ministers as may appear to the President to be reasonably necessary for the efficient running of the State.

The ministers assisted by the Permanent Secretaries and the civil servants are responsible for the proper running of the ministries and government agencies which fall under the various ministries.

The civil service is composed of those persons in the traditional civil service, teaching service (primary and secondary), police, prisons, public universities and the central and local governments’ staff. However, it excludes employees of government agencies including government parastatals. The size of the civil service in 2011 was over 275,000.
